Get started using VoiceOver with Outlook for iOS

Use Outlook for iOS to connect to email accounts from different providers and then access all your email and calendar events from Outlook on your iPhone or iPad.

Start the Outlook app for the first time

The first time you start the Outlook app, a startup screen appears. The first step for using the app is to add an email account.

  1. Slide your finger down until you hear “Get Started button” and then double-tap.

  2. On the next screen, slide down until you hear “Your name@provider.com,” and then double-tap.

  3. Type the address of the email account that you want to access through the Outlook app, and then slide your finger down to the Add Account button. Double-tap.

  4. Sign-in, if prompted, and follow the instructions to finish adding the email account.

Tip: You can add more than one email account and you can also add storage accounts, such as OneDrive or Dropbox.

Add accounts to the Outlook app

You can add email accounts from Office 365, Exchange Online, Exchange Server (2007 SP2, 2010, 2013), Outlook.com (including Hotmail, Live, and MSN), IMAP, Gmail, iCloud, and Yahoo! Mail.

You can also add storage accounts from providers including Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive for Business, and Google Drive. After you add the account, files from this storage account will appear in the Files list in the Outlook app and can be accessed through it.

  1. Move the focus to Settings in the ribbon at the bottom of the screen, and then double-tap.

  2. Slide your finger down until you hear “Add Account button,” and then double-tap.

  3. By default, Add Email Account is highlighted.

    • To add an email account, with focus on the Add Email Account button, double-tap. The focus is in the Add email account text box. Type the email address that you want to add, and then slide your finger down until you hear “Add Account button.” Double-tap. To finish adding the account, follow the instructions you hear.

    • To add a storage account, such as OneDrive or Dropbox, with the focus on the Add Storage Account button, double-tap. A list of storage providers appears. To hear the names, flick right or slide your finger on the screen. When you hear the provider you want to add, double-tap. To sign in and add the storage account, follow the instructions you hear.
