Sign up for Office 365 with your G Suite domain

The person who signs up for Office 365 Business Premium becomes the global admin for Microsoft 365. This is often the business owner in small businesses.

The business owner and each employee installs Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Set up Outlook with Gmail

The business owner and each employee sets up Gmail in Outlook to stay on top of email while moving the business to Microsoft 365.

For this you can use G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook.

Move files from Drive to OneDrive for Business

The business owner and each employee moves files from Google Drive to OneDrive for Business.

Connect your domain to Office 365

Microsoft 365 global admin.

With this step, your company email starts arriving at Microsoft 365 instead of Google G Suite. You're also ready to set up mobile devices if you want to use them for business email and documents.

Set up Office 365 email in Outlook and Import Gmail

The business owner and each employee sets up Microsoft 365 email in Outlook. Then, use Outlook to import Gmail. 

Tip: Wait until the end of the day to import email; this process can slow your network.

Cancel G Suite subscription (but keep your domain)

Before you do this, make sure everyone has all their files from G Suite. We include steps that help you cancel your G Suite account, but keep your current domain name.

Tip: It's a good idea to hold onto your G Suite account for at least a month after you complete migration in case you need to retrieve data that was forgotten.

Set up devices for Office 365

When you install Office apps on your devices you can access your documents on the go. If the admin has set up mobile device management, everyone must enroll their devices when they install Office apps.

Set up Microsoft Teams

Use Microsoft Teams to work together using chat, conversations, cloud-based files, and more.
