For individual servers in an Enterprise pool, you have the following server management options:

  • In the console tree, you can right-click the forest name to do the following:

    • Configure Properties. The properties that can be configured for your organization include the following:

      • Global Properties include settings for supported domains, search, users, meetings, edge servers, federation, archiving, and call detail records.

      • Voice Properties include settings for location profiles, phone usages, policy, and routes.

      • Conferencing Attendant Properties include settings for access phone numbers and regions for public switched telephone network (PSTN) dial-in conferencing.

  • In the results pane, you can do the following:

    • Click the Status tab to view the status of specific settings configured for your organization, including the following settings: Office Communications Server preparation state, supported domains, default routing domain, global settings (that is, for meetings, Edge Servers, federation, archiving, and call detail records), supported pools, and Communicator Web Access settings.

    • Click the Voice tab to view the status of Enterprise Voice settings for your organization, including the following settings: global policy, phone usage records, normalization rules, location profiles, and routes.

    • Click the Voice Task Flow tab to view information about the specific tasks to be performed to configure Enterprise Voice.

    • Click the Conferencing Attendant tab to view current Conferencing Attendant settings, including access phone numbers and regions.

    • Click the Resources tab to access documentation and other resources for Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

At the forest level, the global properties that you configure affect all Office Communications Server 2007 R2 users, servers, and pools.

Some settings in global properties can be configured to defer to user properties. For example, federation, meeting policy, Enterprise Voice policy, and archiving settings can be configured in global properties to function for individual users according to user settings. If you specify that you want to use user settings for federation, meetings, Enterprise Voice, and archiving, you can then enable or disable those features for users on an individual basis by configuring user properties.

Other settings in global properties can be refined by pool or user properties. For example, federation and public instant messaging (IM) connectivity are enabled in global properties, but you can then configure an alternate default route for federation and public IM in pool properties. Similarly, you can configure multiple location profiles for Enterprise Voice in global properties, but you can then specify a default location profile to use for a particular pool in pool properties. Archiving and call detail recording (CDR) are also enabled in global properties but pools do not archive content or create call detail records until you activate those features in pool properties.
