Fixes or workarounds for recent issues in OneNote for Windows

If you have logged in to OneNote 2016 using your PIN authentication, you may be unable to edit notebooks using your mouse. This issue is most noticeable if you're running the Windows Anniversary update from Aug 2016 or later.
This issue is now fixed with update 16.0.7870.2020 released on March 9, 2017. To install the update right away, open any Office 2016 app and click File >Account >Update Options > Update Now.
If you're an Office 365 Pro Plus subscriber, and you get Office updates through the First Release for Deferred Channels, download and install update 16.0.7766.2071 released on March 14, 2017, to get the fix.
We are aware that this issue persists in OneNote 2013 if you are running the Windows Anniversary update. We recommend you use the following workaround for OneNote 2013:
Do not use PIN authentication to log in to OneNote.
Try restarting the app if you're still having the issue.
When using the OneNote app on your Windows 10 device including Windows tablet and phone, you may find that the spellchecker or automatic language selection is not working correctly when you change your keyboard layout to another language other than English.
We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix. In the meantime, we recommend that after launching OneNote, you switch the input language to English first, and then switch back to your desired language.

After running the Windows 10 Anniversary update 14393.187, you may experience repeated crashes following several minutes of program not responding with OneNote 2016 for Windows desktop and OneNote for Windows devices (includes tablets and phones). This issue is most visible when trying to move, copy, or manipulate large blocks of ink, copy handwritten ink notes to another page, or when you copy/cut handwritten notes.
This issue is fixed for OneNote 2016 on Windows desktop with update 16.0.7466.2038 or later. To install the update right away, open any Office app and click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
This issue is fixed for OneNote for Windows 10 with update 7571.5767 released on Nov 21, 2016. To download the latest version of the OneNote app, visit the Microsoft Store or click here to get to the app right away.
When using OneNote 2016, if you're trying to delete or modify a custom template, you may be unable to click the 'Delete' option, or find it disabled. This issue occurs for both consumer and commercial customers, primarily on Current Channel, First Release for Deferred Channel, and Deferred Channel.
This issue is fixed with update 16.0.7466.2038 or later. To download the update right away, open any Office app and click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
After opening OneNote on your desktop or Windows device, you may get an error message 0xE00015E0 that doesn't go away, and can block you momentarily from using the app. We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing. This is a known issue and we're currently investigating it.
