Find your product key for Office for Mac 2011

WARNING: Downloads for Office for Mac 2011 will no longer be available for Office 365 after September 22, 2016. If you have a one-time purchase of Office for Mac 2011, you will still be able to install your Office using your product key.

This article is for Office for Mac 2011. Got another version? Try one of these:

Office 365 for business | Office 365 Home, Personal, or University | Office 2013

Tip: If your copy of Office came with a PIN instead of a product key, go to http://www.microsoft.com/mac/getkey and enter your PIN to get your product key.

Once you have your product key, see Activate Office for Mac 2011.

When you install or reinstall Microsoft Office, you are prompted to enter the product key. The product key is used during installation to "unlock" the software. If you can’t find your product key, it may be in one of these places:

I downloaded Office from an online store.

The product key should be in your email receipt. If you didn’t get a receipt, check your junk mail folder.

If Office came with a box or card, look on the card or packaging. This is a one-time PIN. If you have not used it, go to http://www.microsoft.com/mac/getkey and enter your PIN to get your product key.

If you used the PIN, your product key may have been stored on your account page.

I bought a DVD at a physical store.

The 25 digit product key is on a yellow sticker on the inside of the DVD case.

How to replace a lost product key

You can obtain a new product key by contacting North America Customer Service (NACS) at (800) 936-5700. A new key can be generated only if you have retail copy of the software (DVD) or downloaded version through Digital River or Microsoft Store.

Note: There may be a charge to obtain a new product key from Microsoft ACS.

When you contact ACS for a new product key, make sure that you have the following items available:

  • The product CD or DVD, if it came on a disc.

  • The number on the "inner circle" on the CD or DVD.

  • The computer that you want to install Office on.

  • The readable parts of your product key if available.
