Field codes: Subject field

The Subject field inserts the contents of the Subject box from the Properties dialog box. To view the Properties dialog box, click the File tab, click Info, click Properties (below the document preview on the right side), click Advanced Properties, and then click the Summary tab.

When you view the Subject field in your document, the syntax looks like this:

{ SUBJECT ["NewSubject"] }

Note    A field code tells the field what to show. Field results are what’s shown in the document after having evaluated the field code. To toggle between viewing the field code and the field code results, press Alt+F9.

Optional text that replaces the subject text in the Properties dialog box for the active document or template. The name can be no longer than 255 characters and must be enclosed in quotation marks.

The following field uses the FillIn field to prompt for the subject text. The response entered is printed in the document and is added to the Subject box in the Properties dialog box:

{ SUBJECT " { FILLIN "What is the subject of this document?" }" }
