  1. Select Draw, then choose a pen.

  2. Write your text.

  3. Click the tool box, then select Text.

Edit with natural gestures

Use your finger or pen to edit with natural gestures, like circling to select and crossing out to delete.

  1. Select Draw > Ink Editor, then choose a pen.

  2. Edit your document with natural gestures.

  3. Circle, cross out, draw, and insert.

Use ink in OneNote

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.
  • With a Surface Pen, just start writing.

  • On the Draw tab, select a pen to change the color and thickness.

  • Use Lasso Select to circle anything you've written. Then, select Ink to Text to turn it into editable text.

  • Select Ink to Shape and then draw shapes. OneNote will help them look perfect.

Use ink in Snip & Sketch

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.
  1. Open Snip & Sketch and select New.

    Or, press Windows + Shift + S.

  2. Select the type of snip you want to make.

  3. Choose the area you want to snip. Your snip will open in the app.

    If you used the keyboard shortcut, select the notification that appears.

  4. Use a pen to write on the snip or select Touch Writing to use your finger.
