Error code 30033-27 when installing Office

You might see error code 30033-27 if a previous installation of Office failed, or if antivirus software or a firewall prevents Office from installing. Sometimes restarting your computer is enough to fix the problem. If it isn’t, try these solutions.

Run an Online Repair of Office

  1. Close the error message.

  2. Open Control Panel.

  3. Go to Programs and Features.

  4. In the list of installed programs, click the latest version of Office, and click Change.

  5. Click Online Repair, and then click Repair.

If the repair doesn’t work, remove Office with the Fix it tool, and then install.

Remove and reinstall Office

  1. Click this Fix it.

  2. At the bottom of your browser screen, click Open.

    Click Open

  3. After the Fix it tool is done, install Office again:

    If you’re a home user, sign in to your account page and click Install.

    If you’re a business user, sign in to the Office 365 portal and click Install.

If removing Office doesn't work, temporarily turn off your antivirus software and firewall, and then install Office.

Temporarily turn off antivirus software

If you need information on how to turn off your antivirus software, check the manufacturer’s website for information. If you don’t know which antivirus is on the computer, follow these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Click System and Security.

  3. Under Action Center, click Review your computer’s status and resolve issues. (In Windows 7, click Review your computer’s status.)

  4. Click Security to find the name of the antivirus software.

Temporarily turn off the firewall

Turn off Windows Firewall on Windows 8 or Windows 7.

Note   If you’re using a firewall from another manufacturer, visit their website for information on how to temporarily disable the firewall.
