Enable customized user permissions for a member set in Planning Business Modeler

PerformancePoint Planning Business Modeler helps you manage dimensions by organizing dimension members into member sets. After you create a member set, you can then specify properties for the member set. These properties automatically apply to all its members. For example, you can enable customized user permissions for a member set. When you do this, you make it possible for a User Administrator to configure permissions for that member set.

Important: You must belong to the Data Administrator or Modeler role to enable customized user permissions for a member set.

When you enable customized user permissions for a member set, PerformancePoint Planning Server configures access to the selected member set as None. Then, a User Administrator must configure permissions individually for each user who requires Read or Write permissions to the member set. For more information, see Modify user permissions in a business role.

To enable customized user permissions for a member set:

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, click Security and Roles.

  2. In the Security and Roles workspace, select Business Roles Only from the View drop-down list.

  3. In the list of roles, click the role for which you want to enable customized user permissions. This opens the workspace for the role.

  4. In the role workspace, select the Role tab.

This page displays a list of all member sets in the model site. To limit the number of member sets that are displayed, you can select the name of a model from the Filter member sets by model drop-down list.

  5. Select the name of the member set for which you want to enable customized user permissions.

  6. In the Edit Role Permissions panel of the Workspace Actions pane, locate the Viewing permissions for: section.

  7. Select the Customize user permissions check box. Then, in the Customize User permissions dialog box, click Yes to confirm your selection.

Note: You must select this check box on the Role page before you can edit the permissions for the member set on the Users page.

  8. On the File menu, click Save Model Site to save your changes to Planning Server.
