Need Help? Download the new Help tab into Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 2007 to get help right where you need it, in the program, as you work.

Help tab

Here’s what you get with the free download:

  • Search. Quickly search Office Help from right in the ribbon.

  • Find Commands from Office 2003. Two fast ways to find Office 2003 commands in Office 2007:

    • An Interactive Guide that shows you exactly where 2003 commands are in 2007.

    • A Command Map Excel spreadsheet that lists Office 2003 features and where they are in Office 2007.

  • Tips. Links to online video demos and articles that will help you get off to a good start.

  • Online Training. A selection of the most popular training, demos, and articles.

  • Ask Questions. A direct link to Microsoft Office Online news groups where you can ask questions and get answers.

The Help tab replaces the older Get Started tabs, adding key features to help you get things done.

Click this link to download the Help tab for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 2007.

Notes:  Before you install the download, close the following programs:

  • Excel 2007

  • PowerPoint 2007

  • Word 2007

After you install the download, it will automatically appear in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Open the programs to see the tabs. If you do not see the tabs, close, and then reopen the programs again.

Already have the Get Started tab installed?

Before you download the new Help tab, it’s a good idea to uninstall the older version of the tab, called the Get Started tab. To remove the tab:

Windows 7 or Windows Vista

  1. Close the program you wish to uninstall the Get Started tab from (Word, for example).

  2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

  3. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

  4. Click <add-in name> you want to remove, and then click Uninstall.

Windows XP

  1. Close the program you wish to uninstall the Get Started tab from (Word, for example).

  2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. Click <add-in name> you want to remove and then click Remove.

Note:  The Get Started tabs must be uninstalled separately, from each program: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
