Delete an effect from a picture

  1. Click the picture that you want to delete an effect from.

    To remove the same effect from multiple pictures, click the first picture, and then press and hold CTRL while you click the other pictures.

  2. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Picture Styles group, click Picture Effects.

    If you do not see the Picture Tools or Format tabs, make sure that you clicked a picture.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To delete a built-in combination of effects from the shape, point to Preset, and then click No Presets.

    • To delete a shadow from the shape, point to Shadow, and then click No Shadow.

    • To delete a reflection from the shape, point to Reflection, and then click No Reflection.

    • To delete a glow from the shape, point to Glow, and then click No Glow.

    • To delete soft edges from the shape, point to Soft Edges, and then click No Soft Edges.

    • To delete an edge from the shape, point to Bevel, and then click No Bevel.

    • To delete 3-D rotation from the shape, point to 3-D Rotation, and then click No Rotation.

Note: If you added multiple individual effects, repeat step three above to delete all of the effects.

For one picture

  1. Click the picture that you want to delete an effect from.

  2. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Picture Styles group, click Picture Effects.

    If you do not see the Picture Tools or Format tabs, make sure that you clicked a picture.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To delete a built-in combination of effects from the shape, point to Preset, and then click No Presets.

    • To delete a shadow from the shape, point to Shadow, and then click No Shadow.

    • To delete a reflection from the shape, point to Reflection, and then click No Reflection.

    • To delete a glow from the shape, point to Glow, and then click No Glow.

    • To delete soft edges from the shape, point to Soft Edges, and then click No Soft Edges.

    • To delete an edge from the shape, point to Bevel, and then click No Bevel.

    • To delete 3-D rotation from the shape, point to 3-D Rotation, and then click No Rotation.

Note: If you added multiple individual effects, repeat step three above to delete all of the effects.

For multiple pictures simultaneously

  1. Right-click each picture that you want to delete an effect from, and on the shortcut menu, point to Text Wrapping.

  2. Click Square or any option other than In Line with Text.

  3. Insert a drawing canvas. On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click Shapes, and then click New Drawing Canvas.

  4. Cut and paste the pictures that you want to delete an effect from onto the drawing canvas.

  5. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shadow Effects group, click the arrow next to Shadow Effects, and then click No Shadow Effect.

    If you do not see the Picture Tools or Format tabs, make sure that you clicked a picture.

  1. Click the picture that you want to delete an effect from.

Note: If you added multiple individual effects, repeat step three above to delete all of the effects. You can also click Reset Picture in the Adjust group to remove all of the effects at once, but doing so resets any size changes that you made to the pictures.

For one picture outside a drawing canvas

  1. Click the picture that you want to delete an effect from.

  2. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Picture Styles group, click Picture Effects.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To delete a built-in combination of effects from the shape, point to Preset, and then click No Presets.

    • To delete a glow from the shape, point to Glow, and then click No Glow.

  1. Click the picture that you want to delete an effect from.

  2. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shadow Effects group, click the arrow next to Shadow Effects, and then click No Shadow Effect.

    If you do not see the Picture Tools or Format tabs, make sure that you clicked a picture.

Note: To delete the same effect from multiple pictures, you must change the text wrapping style and copy the pictures to a drawing canvas. (After deleting the effect, you can copy the pictures back to the original location in your document.) To change the text wrapping style, right-click each picture, point to Text Wrapping on the shortcut menu, and then click Square or any option other than In Line with Text.
