Customize alerts and sounds

You can customize the preferences that notify you of certain events, such as when a contact comes online or when you receive an instant message. You can also customize the sound that plays, if any, during an alert.

  1. On the Communicator menu, click Preferences.

  2. Click Alerts  Alerts button .

  3. Do any of the following:


Do this

Turn alerts on or off

Under Alerts, select or clear the check boxes for each kind of alert.

Change the sounds that accompany alerts

Under Alerts, click Sounds, and then choose a sound for each kind of alert.

Note: The Play sounds for alerts check box must be selected.
