Create a custom business template

Available in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2009 only.

You can create a custom business template by exporting the settings from an existing Microsoft Office Accounting 2009 company. The new template contains the settings from the original company and can be used as the starting point for creating new companies.

Create a custom business template

  1. Open a company.

  2. On the File menu, point to Utilities, and then click Export as Template.

  3. In the Enter a file name to export to dialog box, type a name for the template.

  4. Click Save.

Note: By default, the template is saved in the following folder:

    Windows Vista    drive:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\Office Accounting 2009

    Windows XP    drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Templates\Office Accounting 2009

You can now create a new company by using Company Setup. When you reach the step to select a business type on the Choose a business type page, click Add to locate the custom business template that you created. Office Accounting 2009 adds the custom business template to the bottom of the Business types list.

Note: Some settings cannot be applied by a template, but must be set for each new company that you create. For more information, see Settings that can be contained in a business template.
