Cost Rate Table fields

The Cost Rate Table fields provide choices for which cost rate table to use for the resources assigned to a task. No information actually appears in the task and resource versions of this field; they merely make the corresponding cost rate table information available for assignments.

There are several categories of Cost Rate fields.

Best Uses     You can set up different cost rate tables to provide for a different cost rate for a particular task. Add the Cost Rate Table task field to a task view when you want to see the corresponding Cost Rate Table field for the individual assignments on the task.

Examples     You are reviewing and editing the cost rate tables for assignments. You add the Cost Rate Table field to the Task Usage view. No information appears in the Cost Rate Table field next to the task names. However, the cost rate tables for their assignments appear in the Cost Rate Table assignment fields below each task name.

Remarks     You can set up cost rate tables, in the Resource Sheet view, in the Resource Information dialog box.

Best Uses     You can set up different cost rate tables for a resource to provide for different cost rates for different types of assignments. Add the Cost Rate Table resource field to the Resource Usage view when you want to see the corresponding Cost Rate Table field for a resource's individual assignments.

Examples     You are reviewing and editing the cost rate tables for assignments. You add the Cost Rate Table resource field to the Resource Usage view. No information appears in the Cost Rate Table field next to the resource names. However, the cost rate tables for their assignments appear in the Cost Rate Table assignment fields below each resource name.

Best Uses     You can set up different cost rate tables to provide for a different cost rate for a particular assignment. Add the Cost Rate Table field to the sheet portion of the Task Usage or Resource Usage view when you want to display, filter, or edit the different cost rate tables available for an assignment. You can then click the cost rate table you want to apply to the assignment.

Example     One of the resources in your project is the local printing service bureau. For typical jobs, they charge one cost rate; for rush jobs, they charge another cost rate; and for jobs requiring special handling, they charge yet another cost rate. You add the Cost Rate Table field to the Resource Usage view, and then select the appropriate cost rate table for each of the resource's assigned tasks.
