Configuring the connection to a source system in Management Reporter

Use the Entity Configuration Wizard to set or change the settings for connecting to a financial database on the source system.

  1. In the New Entity or Modify Entity dialog box, in the Source system list, click a source system, and then click Settings.

The Entity Configuration Wizard starts. The settings that you select during this wizard session affect the selected source system only.

  2. On the Getting Started page, click Next.

  3. On the Source Connection page, specify the settings for the database connection:

    1. In the Data source type list, click a value.

    2. In the Server name box, type the name of the database server.

    3. Under Login information, select one of the following options: To use your Windows logon information, select Use Windows Authentication. To use Microsoft SQL Server authentication, select Use Standard Authentication. Type your SQL Server user name in the User name box, and then type your SQL Server password in the Password box.

    4. In the Database list, click the database for this connection.

    5. Click Test Server Connection to test the connection to the database. If the server connection fails, verify that you entered the correct server name.

    6. Optionally, click Advanced to review the properties for this connection.

Note: Do not change the advanced property values unless you are instructed to do so by a Microsoft Support representative.

    7. Click Next.

  4. On the Entity Selection page, click an entity in the Select an entity list, and then click Next.

  5. On the Summary page, review the settings, and then click Finish.
