Configure Skype for Business Online dial-in conferencing

With dial-in conferencing, you can let users call into meetings Skype for Business Online Meetings using a phone.

Skype for Business Onlinein Office 365 let's you choose to use Skype for Business or a third-party as your dial-in conferencing provider. If you want to learn more about these options and to see the advantages and disadvantages of each option, see Dial-in conferencing in Office 365.

If you are using a third-party audio conferencing provider, here’s how to set it up:

  1. Contact an audio conferencing provider for dial-in numbers, conference codes, and personal identification numbers (PINs).

  2. Add, change, or remove dial-in conferencing settings for meeting organizers and conference call leaders.

Important:  Set up dial-in conferencing if you’re using Skype for Business on mobile phones or tablets. Mobile Skype for Business users can’t join a meeting with a single click unless the meeting includes dial-in conferencing.

Contact an audio conferencing provider

For phone access to Skype for Business Online Meetings, first set up an account with one of the audio conferencing providers in the Office 365 Marketplace.

The audio conferencing provider gives you:

  1. Local dial-in numbers and toll-free numbers if available

  2. A participant passcode (conference code) and PIN for each person who schedules or leads meetings

Keep in mind:

  • When you add the dial-in numbers and passcode to each user’s account, the information is automatically added to new Skype for Business Online Meeting requests.

  • You only need to set up dial-in conferencing for users who plan to schedule or lead meetings. Unless the organizer has locked the meeting, anyone who has the dial-in number and conference code can join the call.

Add, change, or remove dial-in conferencing settings

You can set up multiple users with import and export. You can also set up individual users, or remove dial-in conferencing settings.

Set up multiple users with export and import

  1. Click Dial-in conferencing > Provider > Export wizard, and then follow the on-screen instructions. When you finish, you’ll have a file that lists the users you want to set up for dial-in conferencing.

  2. Send the file you created to your audio conferencing provider. The provider adds dial-in conferencing information for the users you selected, and then returns the file to you.

  3. When you receive the updated file, click Dial-in conferencing > Provider > Import wizard, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. Send each user the PIN you received from the audio conferencing provider. The PIN may be required to call in as the conference call organizer, or leader.

Set up dial-in conferencing for individual users

  1. Click Dial-in conferencing>Dial-in users.

  2. Click the name of the user you want to set up for dial-in conferencing, and then click Edit Edit. You can edit only one user at a time.

  3. Select your audio conferencing provider, enter the requested information, and then click Save.

Choose your audio conferencing provider from the list.

Toll number (required)

Toll-free number

The phone numbers you received from the audio conferencing provider. Format the numbers as you want them to appear in Skype for Business Online Meeting invitations.

Passcode (required)

The participant passcode, or conference code, used to join meetings that are scheduled by this user.

  1. Send each user the PIN you received from the audio conferencing provider. The PIN may be required to call in as the conference call organizer, or leader.

Remove dial-in conferencing settings

  1. Click Dial-in conferencing > Dial-in users.

  2. Select one or more users that you want to remove from dial-in conferencing.

  3. Click Clear, and then click Yes.
