You configure KPI properties and permissions in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer by using the Properties tab that appears in the workspace when you open a KPI. The properties that you configure can be general properties such as a KPI name, or custom properties such as a link to additional information about the KPI. The permissions that you configure can specify the security requirements for a KPI and determine what level of access to associate with a given user role.
Note: Properties and permissions are among the KPI configuration options that are available in the Editor tab and the Properties tab in the KPI workspace. To learn more about all KPI configuration options, see the KPI configuration overview.

Configure KPI properties and permissions
To specify general properties for a KPI, define custom properties for it, or assign access permissions to it, do the following:
In the Workspace Browser, double-click the KPI that you want to configure. Two tabs appear in the workspace: Editor and Properties.
Click the Properties tab.
In the General Properties section, specify one or more of the following values: Name, Description, Person Responsible, and Display Folder.
(Optional) In the Custom Properties section, specify any additional descriptive elements that you want to add to the KPI. For example, you might include a link to additional information about a KPI, or the e-mail address of the KPI owner.
(Optional) In the Permissions section, you can add or delete permissions for users in a security role.
To add permissions for a user, click New Permission. Use the new row in the table that lists user permissions to type the name of the user and the role (Reader or Editor) that you want the user to have. When you type the user name, use the format Domain\name.
To remove permissions for a user, select the name of the user and then click Delete Selected Permission.
Note: The permissions that you assign in this section apply only to the selected KPI that you are configuring. Users assigned to a Reader role can only view the KPI. Users assigned to an Editor role can view, modify, or delete the KPI.
