ISSUE

When you create a new section or try to rename an existing section in OneNote for Windows 10, you may not be given the chance to name or rename the section as OneNote may enter and exit rename mode quickly or you may never see OneNote entering the rename mode at all.

STATUS: WORKAROUND

Microsoft is aware of this issue and working on a fix. In the meantime, please do the following and try to rename the section again:

  • Resize the OneNote window to make it bigger. You can do this by clicking and dragging the edges or corners of the window.

  • Click View > Navigation Panes > Show All or View > Navigation Panes > Show Sections and Pages.

  • Restart OneNote for Windows 10.
