Can you highlight text in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac?

The typical method for highlighting text with color is not available in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac. However, you can use the Glow text effect to create a similar result, or you can create highlighted text in Word and copy it to PowerPoint.

Use the Glow text effect to highlight text

  1. Select the text you want to highlight.

  2. On the Shape Format tab, click Text Effects Text Effects button and point to Glow.

  3. Choose a Glow Variation.

  4. To increase the glow, click Text Effects> Glow > Glow Options, and increase the number in the Size box in the Format Shape pane on the right.

Create highlighted text in Word

  1. To highlight text in Word, type your text, select it, and then on the Home tab, click the Text Highlight Color menu and select a highlight color.

  2. Copy the highlighted text.

  3. Switch to PowerPoint.

  4. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to the Paste button, and then click Keep Source Formatting.
