Best browsers for Outlook.com or Outlook on the web

To get the most out of Outlook.com and Outlook on the web, we recommend that you use the latest version of your browser, otherwise some features might not work or display properly. With older browsers like Windows Internet Explorer 7, you’ll automatically be redirected to the Outlook.com and Outlook on the web basic experience.

Outlook.com and Outlook on the web support these browsers:

  • For all versions of Windows Vista SP2 or higher:

    • Windows Internet Explorer 9 or higher

    • Google Chrome 35 or higher

    • Firefox 30 or higher

  • For Mac OC X 10.6 or higher:

    • Google Chrome 35 or higher

    • Firefox 30 or higher

    • Safari 5.1.10 or higher

Upgrading should only take a few minutes. To get started, choose a browser:

Tips:

  • Make sure Microsoft Silverlight is installed and running for browsers that support it.

  • To help protect your personal information, Outlook.com and Outlook on the web always use a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection between our servers and your browser. If you're running a browser that doesn't support SSL (like an older model phone), you won't be able to sign in to your Outlook.com or Outlook on the web account and instead might see an error page.
