Avoid compatibility issues in tables

If you want to create, edit, and maintain tables by using both Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 and earlier versions of PowerPoint, avoid using some of the new features in Office PowerPoint 2007.

Apply only the No Style, Table Grid or No Style, No Grid table Quick Styles to your table in Office PowerPoint 2007.

To find table Quick Styles, under Table Tools, on the Design tab, in the Table Styles group, click More Button image . No Style, Table Grid and No Style, No Grid appear under Best Match for Document.

Other Quick Styles that appear under Best Match for Document convert your table to a picture when you save your Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation as a PowerPoint 97-2003 presentation.

Do not use a background fill as a shape for your table or apply a Quick Style with a background shape.

To find table Quick Styles that do not have background shapes that you can use, under Table Tools, on the Design tab, in the Table Styles group, click the More button Button image . Under Best Match for Document, use No Style, Table Grid or No Style, No Grid, or use any of the Quick Styles under Light, Medium, and Dark.

Using a fill or a Quick Style as a background shape for your table converts your table to a picture when you save your Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation as a PowerPoint 97-2003 presentation.

Do not apply visual effects (such as reflections, shadows, or bevels) to any part of your table.

Do not apply a WordArt style to text in a table cell.

Applying a WordArt style to text in a table cell converts your table to a picture when you save your Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation as a PowerPoint 97-2003 presentation.

Do not add a glow or reflection effect to text in a table cell.

Do not change the orientation of your text by rotating it 90 degrees, 270 degrees, or by stacking it.

To change these options, on the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Text Direction, and then click a different text direction.
