Admins: Reset a password for one or more users in Office 365

This article explains how to reset a password for another person. If you're an Office 365 admin and you want to reset your own password, see Reset my administrator password.

  1. Sign in with your Office 365 admin account at https://portal.office.com/adminportal/home.

  2. In the Admin center, select Users.

    Click on User.

  3. On the Active users page, choose one or more users, and then choose Reset password.

  4. Follow the instructions on the Reset password page.

Reset passwords in the classic Office 365 admin center

You must be an Office 365 global admin or password administrator to perform this step.

  1. Sign in with your Office 365 admin account at https://portal.office.com/adminportal/home.

  2. Select Users > Active users.

  3. On the Active users page, select a user, and then click Reset password.

  4. Follow the instructions on the Reset password page.

Note:  The email with the user name and temporary password has a subject line: New or modified user account information. If you don’t see the email right away, wait a few minutes. It can take a little while for changes to go across all the services in Office 365.
