Add or remove a header or footer in Word 2010

Using headers or footers, you can add the date and time, the document title, document path, author's name, words like "Company Confidential", and other information.

Add a header or footer

  1. Insert tab > Header or Footer

  2. Pick a built-in format that has the placeholder information you want the header or footer to contain.

Remove a header or footer

Double-click the header or footer, select the contents, and press Delete.
