Add a “Draft” or “Confidential” watermark to your document

You can add text watermarks, such as “Draft” or “Confidential,” to your document.

  1. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, click Watermark.

  2. Click one of the predesigned watermarks, such as Confidential or Do Not Copy.

Note    Watermarks can be viewed only in Print Layout and Full Screen Reading views and on the printed page. To view a watermark as it will appear on the printed page, use Print Layout view.

Add “Draft” or another custom text watermark

  1. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, click Watermark.

  2. Click Custom Watermark.

  3. Click Text watermark and then select DRAFT or the text you want from the Text list, or type the text that you want.

  4. Select the font, size, and color of the text.

  5. To ensure that the watermark does not cover other text in your document, select the Semitransparent check box.

  6. Click Diagonal or Horizontal.
