The Actual Overtime Work fields contain the actual amount of overtime work already performed by resources assigned to tasks. The timephased versions of these fields show values distributed over time.

There are several categories of fields that show Actual Overtime Work.

Actual Overtime Work (task field)

How Calculated    When you first create a task, the Actual Overtime Work field contains zero. As the assigned resources for the task report actual overtime work, it is entered into the Actual Overtime Work field.

Best Uses    Add the Actual Overtime Work field to any task sheet to review or filter for actual overtime information for tasks. Add this field to the Task Usage view to review or filter for actual overtime information for assignments on specific tasks. Use this field with the Actual Overtime Cost field while a task is in progress to see whether you're staying within your overtime budget. You may also find this information useful after the project is completed to help you plan costs and staffing for future projects.

Example    There are 10 hours of planned overtime for the "Write proposal" task. By reviewing the Actual Overtime Work field, you can see that the assigned resources have reported 6 hours of actual overtime so far.

Example    You're tracking actual overtime for Jamie. By reviewing the Actual Overtime Work field, you can see that so far, Jamie has reported a total of 30 hours of overtime for all assigned tasks.

You can use this field in conjunction with the Actual Overtime Cost field while a task is in progress to see whether you're staying within your budget for overtime. You may also find this information useful after the task is completed to help you plan costs and staffing for future projects.
