Accessibility in Yammer

Yammer, a social networking site to share information and discussions within your organization, includes accessibility features that make it easy for users with limited dexterity, low vision, or other disabilities to work with files. This means you can use keyboard shortcuts, a screen reader, or a speech recognition tool to work with Yammer.

Note: To learn how to set accessibility preferences and navigate Office Online applications, refer to Accessibility in Office Online.

Explore the Yammer user interface

The Yammer user interface exists within your web browser. On the toolbar, near the top of the browser window, is the Office 365 app launcher that contains the list of Microsoft services and Office Online applications, including Mail (, Excel Online, OneNote, and more. The toolbar also includes the link to the Office 365 portal, as well as commands to get notifications, manage your options, get help, and sign out.

Under the toolbar are three panes of content. The top of the left pane contains controls for getting to your Yammer Home page, Inbox, Notifications, and Search box. Under those controls are the list of groups you follow or subscribe to, and links to discover or create new groups.

At the top of the middle pane are links for posting an update, poll, praise, or announcement, and beneath the active link is the text box and command for creating that post. Beneath the post is a thread of discussions for the group you’ve selected in the left pane. For each of your coworkers’ posts, you can follow links, like, share, or reply to a post.

Use controls in the right pane to invite other coworkers to join you on Yammer, to view recent activity, and to see who’s currently online.

For general information about navigating the menu, toolbar, and panes, refer to Accessibility in Office Online.
