About available actions for a cycle in Planning Business Modeler

There are actions that you can perform for each cycle definition and cycle instance. You must have Modeler or Data Administrator permissions to perform these actions.

Note:  After you perform an action, you should refresh PerformancePoint Planning Business Modeler to help prevent conflicts between the action and any subsequent changes that you make. To refresh, select Refresh from the View menu.

Available actions for cycle instances

Available action

Description

Cancel

Cancels the cycle instance immediately.

Close

Moves the cycle to the Finished state and is used to prematurely end the cycle before the cycle end date.

Lock

Locks a cycle and prevents access to objects in the cycle so that administrative tasks such as importing or exporting data can be accomplished.

The Lock action includes the Hard parameter. If this parameter is set to false, assignments in the Pending state can proceed. If this parameter is set to true, assignments in the Pending state will fail. The default value for this parameter is false.

Note:  This differs from metadata locking for dimensions and models in Planning Business Modeler.

Purge

Deletes the cycle instance and all assignments and jobs in the cycle.

Resume

Restarts a cycle that has been canceled or closed. If the cycle end date occurs in the past, it must be updated manually before using this action; if it is not, it will immediately close again.

Start

Starts a cycle instance immediately, even if the current date is before the cycle start date.

Unlock

Unlocks a cycle if it has been locked.
