Specifies the behavior of 2-D shapes during automatic layout.
Placement behavior
Determines how a 2-D shape interacts with a dynamic connector, and whether it's included in an automatic layout. You can specify that a dynamic connector can detect the 2-D shape and route around it rather than cross through it. A 2-D shape that's included in automatic layout and that a dynamic connector can detect is called a placeable shape.
-
Let Visio decide Allows Microsoft Office Visio to determine when to make the shape placeable, based on the type of connector you glue to the shape. The shape becomes placeable if you glue a dynamic connector to it.
-
Lay out and route around Makes a 2-D shape placeable in all cases. A dynamic connector always detects it, and it is always included in an automatic layout.
-
Do not lay out and route around Sets a 2-D shape so that it's never placeable. A dynamic connector cannot detect it, and it is not included in an automatic layout.
Placement
-
Do not move during placement Specifies that the shape should not be moved during automatic layout.
-
Allow other shapes to be placed on top Specifies that other shapes can be placed on top of the selected shape during automatic layout.
Move shapes on drop
-
Move other shapes away on drop Specifies whether the shape moves other shapes out of the way as it is moved on the page. This option can override the Move other shapes away on drop option on the Layout and Routing tab in the Page Setup dialog box.
-
Plow as page specifies means the shape follows the page settings.
-
Plow no shapes means the shape never moves other shapes away, even if the Move other shapes away on drop option is selected on the Layout and Routing tab.
-
Plow every shape means the shape always moves other shapes away, even if the Move other shapes away on drop option is not selected on the Layout and Routing tab.
-
Do not allow other shapes to move this shape away on drop Specifies that the selected shape not be moved when other shapes are dragged onto the page regardless of which Move other shapes away on drop option is selected.
Interaction with connectors
-
Route through horizontally Specifies that a dynamic connector can route through the 2-D shape (a line through the middle) horizontally.
-
Route through vertically Specifies that a dynamic connector can route through the 2-D shape (a line through the middle) vertically.
