The options in this dialog box determine the time scale and date display for your Microsoft Office Visio timeline.

Scale

Time scale

Select the time scale unit for the timeline (Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Quarters, or Years). Each of the specified time scale units will appear on the timeline if the Show interim time scale markings on timeline check box is selected.

Start weeks on

Select the start day for the weeks in the timeline. (This option is available only when Time Scale is set to Weeks.)

Start fiscal year on

Select the start day for the fiscal year. (This option is available only when Time Scale is set to Quarters.)

Note: The dropdown calendar displays the current year by default, but the year will not appear on your timeline.

Date display options

Timeline language

Select the language you want for the date formats in your timeline. Date formats for the timeline, as well as all milestones and intervals on the timeline, will display in the language you specify here.

Note: If you send your timeline drawing file to another person, the timeline will open displaying the date formats in the language specified here.

Show start and finish times on timeline shape

Select this check box to display the start and finish times on the timeline.

Format

Select a format for the timeline shape from the list of formatting options. Start and finish dates will appear in the selected format.

Show interim time scale markings on timeline

Check this option to display each time unit on the timeline.

Show dates on interim time scale markings

Check this option to display each interim marking on the timeline. (This option is available only when the Show interim time scale markings on timeline check box is selected.)

Milestone format

Select a format for the milestone shapes from the list of formatting options. Start and finish dates will appear in the selected format.

Interval format

Select a format for the interval shapes from the list of formatting options. Start and finish dates will appear in the selected format.

Automatically update dates when markers are moved

Select this check box to automatically update the dates on your marker, milestone, and interval shapes when you reposition them.
