Create a House of Quality diagram

The Six Sigma House of Quality Shapes stencil includes two types of pre-built “houses”. The first is the Complete shape, which includes rows, columns, labels, and the correlation matrix (the “roof”).

The second is the Matrix shape, which is a row and column matrix without labels or a correlation matrix.

You can add label shapes and a correlation matrix shape to the simple matrix by dragging them from the stencil.

Resize and add or remove rows and columns

The House of Quality shapes have special resizing behavior. When you drag the square blue resizing handles, rows or columns are added to or removed from the matrix. The size of the boxes does not change. You can also add and remove rows and columns by right-clicking the shape and then clicking the appropriate command on the shortcut menu.

The Complete house shape has two yellow control handles, one on the row label side and one on the column label side. When you drag the control handle, the size of all row or column labels changes together.

There are also shapes for individual rows and columns available in the stencil. These are individually resizable, even when grouped.

Fill in the diagram

Add text to the row and column labels by selecting the row or column and then typing.

Add a Ratings shape to the matrix cells where you want to show an icon, and then right-click the shape to select the kind of rating you want to show. You can also show the numerical value of the rating in addition to the icon.

If you want to add a numerical value with no icon to a cell, use the Value shape. After you add the Value shape, you can select it and type the value you want.

The Correlations shape, which is usually used in the “roof” correlation matrix, is added and modified the same way. Drop a Correlations shape in the matrix cell, and then right-click to set the type.
