Data Type    Duration

Entry Type    Calculated or entered

Description    The Baseline Duration field shows the original span of time planned to complete a task.

How Calculated    When you save a baseline, the baseline duration is copied from the task's total scheduled duration at that point in time.

Best Uses    Add the Baseline Duration field to a task view when you want to compare your originally planned durations against the scheduled or actual duration for tasks.

Example    You set a baseline for your project three months ago, and you want to compare the baseline durations for a number of tasks against the actual or current duration. You add the Baseline Duration and Actual Duration fields to the Task Sheet view to analyze your progress to date.

Remarks    The Baseline Duration field contains "0 days" until you set a baseline for the project. You can set a baseline in the Set Baseline dialog box. You can save up to 11 different baselines.

You can use the Tracking Gantt view to see the baseline duration shown with baseline Gantt bars.
