Before you reinstall Office for commercial use, we recommend that you uninstall Office first. After you've uninstalled Office, follow the steps below.

Reinstall Office

The steps you follow will depend if you have a product key, if you don't have a product key, or if you plan to install Office from an installation disc.

Select the correct tab for how you want to reinstall Office.

If you have a product key, follow these steps.

  1. Go to https://setup.office.com

  2. Sign in using your Microsoft account.

If you don't have a Microsoft account, you can create one.

  3. Enter your Office product key and select your country or region and language. Select Next.

  4. Review the option to receive surveys, promotions, and tips. Select Next.

  5. Select Download Now and follow the on-screen instructions to start the download and launch the installation.

  6. When the installation is finished, start an Office app, like Word. (Please refer the topic, Can't find your Office apps?)

  7. Close the Sign in to set up Office screen.

  8. Accept the license agreement when prompted. Office is activated and ready to use.

Note: When you will install Office apps from https://setup.office.com with your product key, 32-bit edition will be installed by default. If you need to install 64-bit edition, please refer the answer for the following question in "Frequently asked questions for preinstalled Office".
"If I reinstall Office apps on a 64-bit OS, can I reinstall either Office 32-bit or 64-bit version?"

Since year 2022, some Office pre-installed PC bundle an Office digital license instead of an Office product key card. To reinstall Office apps on your device after your Office digital license activated, you must reinstall them from Microsoft Store app following below.

Reinstall Office from Microsoft Store Library

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app.

  2. Select the Library icon and then the Apps tab. (If you can see the All tab in Library, select the All tab.)

  3. Turn off the Show installed products only filter under the Sort and Filter. (If you select All tab, skip this step.)

  4. Find your Office product in the Apps (or All) tab, and select Cloud button.

  5. Office installer (setup.exe) will be downloaded and install Office apps.

  6. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Note: If you install Office apps from Microsoft Store app, Office apps will be installed in the same edition as the bit edition of Windows by default. You can't install 32-bit edition of Office apps if 64-bit edition of Windows runs on your device.
If you have uninstalled the preinstalled Office apps or clean installed another Windows before activation for Office apps, please refer the answer for the following question in "Frequently asked questions for preinstalled Office".
"I uninstalled pre-installed Office apps before activation. How can I install and activate Office?"

Microsoft provides an installation media for Office 2016 or Office 2019 pre-installed device. If you requested an installation media for Office 2016 or 2019, follow this procedure to reinstall Office. You need a product key bundled in your Office pre-installed device.

  1. Insert the DVD. You might be prompted to run setup.exe automatically. If not, open the DVD in Explorer and double-click setup.exe.

  2. Wait for the installation is complete and select Close when prompted.

  3. Start an Office app, like Word. Can't find your Office apps?

  4. On Sign in to set up Office screen, select I have a product key link below the buttons.

  5. On Enter your product key screen, enter your product key and select Activate Office.

  6. Accept the license agreement when prompted. Office is activated and ready to use.

Note: If your device isn't connected to the Internet, the Activation Wizard appears so you can activate by phone. Follow the prompts in the wizard to complete the activation process.
