What is an Admin?

You can tell if you're the admin in Office 365 by choosing the app launcher, and if you see the Admin button, then you're the admin.

It can be convenient to add more admins to share the work of IT management. Here's how:

  1. From the admin centerAdmin center, go to Users and Active users.

  2. Now select one of the users, go to Roles, then Edit.

  3. You can give them access to everything in the Admin center by choosing Global administrator, including user management, passwords, and more, or you can give them access to just certain admin tasks, like subscriptions or passwords, by choosing Customized administrator.

Now both the business owner and user can manage the business in the cloud with the Microsoft 365 admin center.

In Office 365 for Business, every subscription has an admin who can manage the service, reset passwords, add users, and more.

You can tell if you're the admin in Office 365 by choosing the app launcher, and if you see the Admin button, then you're the admin.

When you choose this, you'll see the Admin center.

You can work with your users, software downloads, billing, support, and more.

Now, there are a couple ways to become an admin in Office 365.

If you're the person who signed up your business for Office 365 following these steps, you become the admin by default.

The other way to become an admin is for someone to make you one.

It can be convenient to add more admins to share the work of IT management.

From the Admin center, go to Users and Active users.

Now select one of the employees, like Alex, go to Roles, then Edit.

You can give them access to everything in the Admin center by choosing Global administrator, including user management, passwords, and more, or you can give them access to just certain admin tasks, like subscriptions or passwords, by choosing Customized administrator.

Let's make Alex a Global administrator since he's responsible for all the IT at our company, then Save and Close.

Now both the business owner and Alex can manage the business in the cloud with the Office 365 Admin center.
