View shape data in Visio for the web

Shapes can contain related data, called shape data, which is useful for providing details. For example, you can add shape data about steps in a process or pieces of equipment in a network diagram, without filling up the diagram with text. Although you can’t add shape data in Visio for the web, shape data added through Visio is visible in Visio for the web. If a hyperlink was added to a shape in Visio, the hyperlink is also visible, and you can follow it. For more information, see Add data to shapes.

  1. Open the diagram for viewing.

  2. Select Shape Info Shape Info command .

  3. To see a shape's data, select the shape.
