View a project by using the Project Center

The Project Center is your one-stop source for information about projects that have been published to Microsoft Office Project Server. You can see summary information about multiple projects and review detailed information about specific projects. To view a project in the Project Center, do the following:

  1. On the Quick Launch, click Projects.

    On the Project Center page, view a list of all published projects, including master projects, within the organization.

  2. In the View list, click the view that contains the information that you want.

    The chart portion of the Gantt Chart view displays each project as a summary Gantt bar. Different fields are displayed in the sheet portion of the view, depending on the view that you choose.

    Tip: To filter the list of projects or to organize the projects into groups, click View Options View Options , and then select the appropriate options.

  3. To see tasks within the project, click the name of the project in the Project Name column. A list of all the tasks within the project is displayed, including any inserted subprojects.

  4. If you want to work with the project within its own workspace, select the project, click Go To, and then click Project Workspace. Within the project's workspace, you can create a discussion board, create a list of related files and documents, and set up a document library for the project.


    • Before you can go to a workspace for a project, a workspace must have been set for the project either by a manager when the project was first published, or by an administrator.

    • The Project Center page displays indicators about project-related information. For example, document or issue indicators are displayed when documents or issues are linked to a project.

    • To open the project with Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007, select the project, and then click Open.

    • Depending on permission settings, you can edit custom fields for a project. Select the project for which you want to change the custom fields, and then click Edit Custom Fields.

Why can't I perform some actions in Microsoft Office Project Web Access?

Depending on the permissions settings you used to log on to Project Web Access, you may not be able to see or use certain features. Also, what you see on some pages may differ from what is documented if your server administrator customized Project Web Access and did not customize the Help to match.
