Split tables

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.

Split tables if you want your data separated into two tables.

  1. In the row that you want to be first in the new table, select a cell.

  2. Select Table Tools Layout > Split Table.

    Note: If the new table contains multiple rows, it can also be split.

  3. If you'd like to format or style your table, select Table Tools Design and then select the style you want.

You can split a table into two or more smaller tables.

First, select the row that will be the first one in the new table.

In Table Tools, go to Layout, and select Split Table.

As long as there is more than one row in each sub-table, you can split the tables.

And in Table Tools, you can format or style each new table independently.

You can also type new text in the space between the tables...

Or insert or paste a photo, illustration, image, or chart—anything that you normally paste into a Word document or an Outlook email.
