Create shapes

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.

With OneNote, you can insert shapes, like a circle, triangle, or rectangle, or even draw shapes with your finger, pen, or mouse, and OneNote will automatically clean them up for you.

Insert a shape

  1. Select Draw > Shapes.

  2. Choose a basic shape, like an Oval, click anywhere in your notebook, and then drag to create the shape.

Draw a shape on a touch screen

  1. Tap Draw with Mouse or Touch.

  2. Tap Ink to Shape.

  3. Draw a shape. Your hand-drawn shapes automatically turn into shapes with straight lines and clean corners.

  4. When you're done drawing, tap Select Objects or Type Text.

To get started, select the Draw tab.

To insert a shape, select Shapes, choose a basic shape, like an Oval, click anywhere in your notebook, and then drag to create the shape.

To move a shape, drag it.

To resize a shape, drag a control handle.

To delete a shape with your mouse, select it and press Delete.

Drawing shapes works especially well on a touch screen.

To draw a shape on a touch screen, tap Draw with Mouse or Touch, and then tap Ink to Shape.

Now draw a shape, like a circle...

or a square.

Your hand-drawn shapes automatically turn into shapes with straight lines and clean corners.

When you're done drawing, simply tap Select Objects or Type Text.
