Use Styles

Use Styles to apply a consistent font, font size, font color, and spacing throughout your document.

  1. Select the words, paragraph, list, or table that you want to apply a style to.

  2. On the Home tab, in Styles, select the style that you want.

Edit a file in Word desktop

If you're working in Word Online and need more advanced features, such as SmartArt, you can switch to Word 2016 on your desktop.

To open a file in Word 2016:

  • With a file open in Word Online, select EDIT IN WORD to launch the desktop app. When you save, your changes are synced to your OneDrive or SharePoint site.

    Tip: You can also start from the OneDrive folder on your computer or in Word 2016. Just browse to the file you want.

Edit a Word file on your mobile device

In the Word app, select Open, select the location and select the file. You can also select Recent and select a recently opened file.
