Description    The Overtime Rate field shows the rate of pay for overtime work performed by a resource.

Best Uses    Add the Overtime Rate field to a resource view to enter a resource's rate of pay for overtime work directly in the sheet portion of the view. Whenever the resource reports actual overtime work, the costs for this work are calculated by multiplying the actual overtime work by this overtime rate.

Example    Sean has an overtime rate of $15 per hour. To make sure this cost is accurately calculated when Sean is used in your project, type 15/h in the Overtime Rate field. If you don't type a slash and time unit, hours are used.

Remarks    You can enter the overtime rate for a resource in the Resource Information dialog box. You can also set a default overtime rate in the Project Options dialog box. When a new resource is created, this default overtime rate is set until you change it.

You can enter a variable overtime rate in the Resource Information dialog box. You can also specify different overtime rates for different time periods, which is helpful when a resource is scheduled to get a raise effective on a specific date. When you specify a variable rate, the rate displayed in the sheet portion of the view is for the current time period.
