Minimize the ribbon in Word for Mac

To maximize your screen space in a Word document, you can minimize the ribbon so that only the tabs appear.

On the right side of the ribbon, click the upward-facing arrow Collapse ribbon button .

After you minimize the ribbon, it will look like this:

  • To quickly go back and forth between a collapsed and expanded ribbon, double-click a tab on the ribbon (single-click a tab to expand the ribbon again). Or, press OPTION + COMMAND +R to collapse the ribbon (pressing OPTION + COMMAND +R again will expand the ribbon).

To expand the ribbon, on the right side of the ribbon, click the downward-facing arrow Expand ribbon button .
