Description    The Material Label field contains the unit of measurement you enter for a material resource, for example, tons, boxes, or cubic yards. This label is then used in conjunction with the material resource's assignment units, for example, eight tons or 22 boxes.

Best Uses    Add the Material Label field to any resource sheet when you want to enter, change, or view the unit of measurement for material resources. Also use the Material Label field when you want to sort, filter, or group material resources by labels.

Example    In your project, you're using different types of steel, with tons as their material label. You're also using different types of soil, with cubic yards as their material label. You want to review the resources that have similar material labels together so you can better estimate quantities and costs. In the Resource Sheet view, you group resources by material label. The soil resources are grouped together, and then the steel resources are grouped after that.

Remarks    The Material Label field is available by default on the Entry table in the Resource Sheet view. It's also on the General tab of the Resource Information dialog box.
