Clean up or remove duplicate contacts in Outlook.com

Outlook.com can help you find multiple entries for some of your contacts and clean up the list. Contacts are not deleted, just linked together. You can unlink them later if you wish.

How to use the Outlook.com contacts clean up tool

  1. Sign in to Outlook.com.

  2. At the bottom of the page, select People .

  3. In the command bar at the top of the page, select Manage > Clean up contacts

    Note: We recommend cleaning up in batches of fewer than 50 contacts at a time.

How to unlink Outlook.com contacts

  1. Sign in to Outlook.com.

  2. At the bottom of the page, select People .

  3. Select the contact which has been linked.

  4. Select Linked contacts and select Unlink next to each contact you wish to unlink.
