Add a page to a Communication site

When you create a communication site, you can add pages using built-in templates to help you get started. Choose from a blank page, a multi-column page, or a single-column page.

Notes: 

  • Some functionality is introduced gradually to organizations that have opted in to the First Release program. This means that you may not yet see this feature or it may look different than what is described in the help articles.

  • You must be a site owner or SharePoint administrator to add pages.

  • If you are a site owner but you are unable to add a page, your administrator may have turned off the ability to do so.

Blank page template

This template creates a blank page with a title area. You can build it yourself using a variety of web parts. To create a page from this template:

  • From your Communication site, click +New at the top and then click Page.

  • In the Page Templates dialog box, select Blank.

  • Name your page, and then start building it by adding the web parts you want to use to share information. Learn more about using web parts on modern pages.

Multiple-column page template

This template starts you off with two columns, a Text web part a People web part, and a Quick Links web part. To create a page with this template:

Single-column page template

This template starts you off with one column and a Text web part. To create a page using this template:

  • From your Communication site, click +New at the top and then click Page.

  • In the Page Templates dialog box, select Single column.

  • Name your page, and then add your content to the Text web part. You can also add more web parts. Learn about using web parts on modern pages.
