Word can't find a linked file

Cause: The original linked file was moved or deleted.

Solution:    Update the link to the file.

  1. On the Edit menu, click Links.

  2. Under Source file, click the name of the missing linked object.

  3. Click Change Source.

  4. Locate the missing file and double-click it.

  5. Click OK.

Solution:    Embed the file in your document rather than link to it.

  1. In your document, click the placeholder for your missing file.

  2. On the Edit menu, click Links.

  3. Under Source file, click the name of the missing file, and then click Change Source.

  4. Locate the file that you want to embed, and double-click it.

  5. Select the Save picture in document check box.

  6. Click OK.
