Voice Properties: Policy

Use the Policy tab to define one or more Enterprise Voice policies, including specifying whether to apply a single policy globally or to apply policies on a per-user basis.

Global policy

Specify the application method for Enterprise Voice Policy.

  • To apply a single policy to all your Voice users, click the appropriate policy in the Global policy drop-down list box.

  • To apply specific policies to individual users or groups of users, click Use per user policy in the Global policy drop-down list box.

Defined policies

This list contains all the policies available to your organization. Initially, the list contains a Default Policy, which you can modify, but you cannot delete it.

Add

To add a new policy, click Add.

Edit

To revise an existing policy, click the policy in the list, and then click Edit.

Remove

To remove a policy, click the policy in the list, and then click Remove.

Enterprise Voice policies consist primarily of one or more phone usage records, which together define the types of calls that a user or group of users are allowed to make. Enterprise Voice policies also specify whether users are enabled for simultaneous ringing of all their phones.

When you add a policy, it appears in both lists on this tab:

  • Global policy. Any policy in this list is available for assignment as the global policy. If you choose a policy in this list to be used as a global policy, it is assigned to all users without further configuration required. If you choose a policy from this list, the policy cannot be specified for individual users. If you choose the Use per user policy option from this list, no global policy is available and you must specify the appropriate policy for each individual user or group of users.

  • Defined policies. Each policy in this list is available for assignment to users (that is, if you specify that policies are to be applied on a per-user basis). If you choose to apply policies on a per-user basis, you must first create each policy required to meet the individual needs of your users, and then apply the appropriate policy to each user or group of users using the Configure User Wizard.
