Viewing or changing the version requirement for a Groove workspace

You can increase the version requirement for a Groove workspace by selecting a later SharePoint Workspace version (if available) from the drop-down menu.

Every workspace has a minimum SharePoint Workspace version requirement for tools, which is initially set when the workspace is created. This means all tools that you or any other member add to the workspace are supported only for members running the minimum version or later. Members running an earlier version of SharePoint Workspace will get prompted to update their software if they try to go to tools in the workspace that require the later version. Additionally, invitees to the workspace who are running an earlier version may be required to update SharePoint Workspace before accepting the invitation.

Workspace managers might change the SharePoint Workspace version number so that members can add newer versions of tools to the workspace. However, note the following details about increasing version requirements:

  • You cannot decrease the version requirement for a workspace. Once you increase the version requirement, members running an earlier version of SharePoint Workspace may get prompted to upgrade SharePoint Workspace when new tools are added to the workspace.
