Use VoiceOver to manage contacts or favorites in Skype for Business on iPhone and iPad

You can use VoiceOver—the screen reader built in to iOS—to add people to your contacts or Favorites list in Skype for Business on your iPhone and iPad.

Search for a contact and open their contact card

  1. Start the Skype for Business app and sign in.

    Tip: For sign-in help, refer to Get started using VoiceOver with Skype for Business on iPhone and iPad.

  2. Move the focus to the search for contacts box. You hear “Search for contacts, Search field.” To search for a contact, double-tap the search for contacts box. You hear “Search field, Is editing.” Type the name or email alias of the person you want to find.

  3. Move the focus to the search results below the search for contacts box. As you select a contact, you hear the person’s name, their title, and their status. Double-tap the name of the person you want to add to your contacts or Favorites list.

  4. As a communication screen for that person’s card opens and the focus moves to the Back button, you hear “Back button.”

  5. To select and open the drop-down menu for the contact, tap the contact’s name (to the right of the Back button). You hear the person’s name followed by “Button.” Double-tap the name. The drop-down menu includes three options: see contact card, add participants, and send email.

  6. To select and open the see contact card option, tap it. You hear “See contact card, Button.” Double-tap it. As the person’s contact card opens, you hear the name of the company they work for or their email address. The screen that opens includes the following seven levels of user interface (UI) elements:

    • Dismiss button, name of contact, Favorites button, and Add contact button

    • Contact’s title

    • Video call button, Call button, Send Message button

    • Contact’s email address

    • Name of the company that the contact works for

    • Office number

    • Work phone number

Add people to your contacts

  1. Search for a contact and open their contact card.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the screen, move the focus to the Add contact button. You hear “Add contact, Button.” Double-tap it.

  3. As the focus moves to a button for one of your contact groups, you hear the name of the contact group, followed by “Button.”

  4. Tap, and then double-tap the button for the group to which you want to add the person. You hear the name of the contact group, followed by “Added to group.”

Add people to your Favorites list

  1. Search for a contact and open their contact card.

  2. In the upper-right corner of your screen, move the focus to the Favorites button. If the person is not currently in your Favorites list, you hear the name of the person, followed by “Is currently not added to Favorites, Favorites button.”

  3. Double-tap it. You hear the name of the person, followed by “Added to group, Favorites.”
