Use TalkBack to join an online meeting in Skype for Business for Android

With Skype for Business for Android, you can use TalkBack—the screen reader built in to Android—to join an online meeting.

Join an online meeting

  1. Open Skype for Business for Android and sign in if necessary.

    Tip: If you did not sign out of Skype for Business for Android the last time you used it, the app opens without prompting you to sign in. For sign-in help, refer to Get started using TalkBack with Skype for Business for Android.

  2. Slide toward the upper-right corner of the screen until the View meeting list button has the focus. Double-tap.

  3. Slide down the Meetings screen until the meeting you want to join has the focus. You hear the meeting date and time, the meeting subject, and “at location online meeting.” Double-tap.

    Tip: If necessary, open your Outlook calendar to find the meeting. To do this, slide toward the bottom center of the screen until the Open Calendar button has the focus. Double-tap. Slide down the calendar until you find the meeting. Double-tap.

  4. In the pop-up window for the meeting, slide to the link for the meeting and Double-tap. You join the meeting and hear “Skype for Business.”

    The Skype for Business for Android meeting screen presents the following controls:

    • In the upper row, the Video, Mute, and Audio buttons.

    • In the middle row, the Add, Dialpad, and More buttons.

    • At the bottom center of the screen, the End call button.

    To activate any of these controls, move the focus to the button you want and double-tap.

  5. Unless you’re the meeting organizer, your microphone is automatically muted when you join the meeting. Slide to the Mute button. You hear “Audio is muted, Switch checked.”

  6. To unmute your microphone, double-tap the Mute button. You hear “Audio is unmuted, Switch not checked.”

Exit an online meeting

  1. When you’re ready to leave the online meeting, slide near the bottom center of the meeting screen until you hear “End call.”

  2. Double-tap the End call button. You hear “Call ended.” The Skype for Business for Android conversation screen has the focus.
