Use Teams chat in Outlook on the web

If you're using Office 365 Enterprise, you can chat with colleagues in Outlook on the web using Microsoft Teams.

Note: Skype in Outlook on the web is no longer available, but you can use chat with Microsoft Teams if your organization is set up to use Teams and your admin has given you access.

Chat in Outlook on the web 

  1. In Outlook on the web, from the header select  Chat icon  Chat.

  2. A Chat window opens with a list of read and unread chats. Select a chat to view the message and continue the conversation. You can minimize the chat window or close it at any time.

  3. To start a new conversation, select  New chat icon New chat.

Note: Teams Chat in Outlook on the web isn't supported in the Safari web browser at this time.

Allow third-party cookies

To use chat in Outlook on the web, make sure your browser is set to allow third-party cookies. 

Tip: If you're using Microsoft Edge, you can check if third-party cookies is turned on by going to Settings and more > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data. Set Block third-party cookies to the Off position.
