When a user opens a building block (report, row, column, reporting tree), no other users can access that building block. For example, if a user is working on a report definition, other users cannot open that report definition in Microsoft Office PerformancePoint 2007 Management Reporter. This feature prevents users from overwriting each other's work.
Sometimes, however, a user might forget to check in a building block or might shut down their system without closing the building block. As a result, the building block is checked out and other users cannot open it. In these situations, a Management Reporter administrator can use the Source System Information function to check in building blocks that any user has left in a checked out status.
To undo building block checkout, do the following:
On the Tools menu, click Source System Information.
In the Source System Information box, select the Show items from all users check box.
The Source System Information box lists all checked out building blocks and shows who checked them out.
Click a building block name, and then click Undo Checkout.
Note: You cannot use the Source System Information function to check in building blocks that you have checked out. If you want to check in an item that you checked out, close the building block window.
